Assembled a new PC featuring an MSI Pro B650-p Wi-Fi board, Ryzen 9 7950X3D, and two Corsair Vengeance 6000MHz kits at 32GB. All four RAM modules allowed booting without XMP, yet everything experienced random stuttering with minimal utilization. When using RAM Kit A in slots 1 and 3, no boot occurred; with Kit B in slots 1 and 3, XMP worked but performance matched Corsair's standard speed. RAM Kit A in slots 2 and 4 booted with XMP, while Kit B in slots 2 and 4 also used XMP. Slot 1 had no boot with any stick, slot 3 had no boot. Tested four crucial 8GB DDR5 4800MHz CL 40 units—system ran at XMP speed but not at full potential. Possible issue lies with the motherboard rather than the CPU or RAM. Counting slots near CPU slot 1 and farthest to slot 4.
They produce a lot of these setups. Including the version numbers would help clarify things. DDR5 is quite sensitive to signal quality; without diving into the technical details, slots 1 and 3 show much worse signal integrity when slots 2 and 4 are empty, often causing the system to fail to boot at JEDEC 3600. Without XMP support, the 4x16GB Corsair setup should match DDR5 3600. Running at 4800 stock with all four DIMMs installed suggests a BIOS issue rather than the memory configuration itself. Having two 32GB sticks is generally problematic and requires careful BIOS and memory selection.
It was mainly an issue with AM4, though I think it was exaggerated. Generally it worked fine, except on certain motherboards and older BIOS versions. This specific set could have problems. These sets are typically Micron-focused, and most AM5 boards lack the BIOS tweaks needed for Micron kits (though newer BIOSes usually include them), plus they likely don’t support 4x16GB configurations. If you can, pick this one and choose an alternative. There are many cheaper options that perform better.
Consider a 64GB RAM system, upgrading from the 32GB used in your previous setup. This should help with multitasking during gaming and other activities.
