Issue with Corsair TX850W PSU and Asus Strix Z790-H motherboard
The manual advises linking the main 12-pin power plug from the PSU to the main power connector on the board, which I did. However, it also reminds me to connect the 8-pin power plug to one of the ATX_12V_1 or ATX_12V_2 connectors on the board. I noticed the PSU has an 8-pin plug with both rounded holes for each pin, while the board’s connector has a different shape. It’s unclear if this is necessary, though it might offer extra power to the CPU. I’m unsure if skipping this step would cause issues, but I wonder if the PSU is compatible with this type of mobo (the PCPartPicker suggested compatibility).
You may wish to skip sending a picture of the PSU and motherboard connectors. It's not possible to force a PCIe connector into an 8pin EPS connector. Can I simply skip connecting the plug to this board connector? Is the PSU compatible with this mobo (the PCPartPicker suggested it was)? You should use a 24pin+8pin EPS connection.
It functioned smoothly with the previous parts, no issues encountered.
It isn't a wise idea to combine it with new components. This outdated unit can't handle the dynamic loads, maintain stable voltage, or suppress ripples as required by the hardware. After 14 years, its reliability has also declined.
