I recently purchased a new PC and an Ethernet cable (CAT.5E), but it doesn’t seem to function properly. I switched to another older cable on my new PC and still faced issues. Even when I used the new cable on my old PC, it didn’t work either. I contacted the seller for a replacement, but it arrived and continued to malfunction. An orange light is flickering next to the Ethernet port where the cable is plugged in. I installed all available drivers, which indicates it’s a Realtek PCie GbE Family controller. I also noted that I’m using Windows 10. I tried connecting a USB network adapter, though it was very slow, but WiFi still worked. The person who assembled the PC used a different cable before delivery and it worked for them. My thought is the router might be outdated and needs replacement. Everything else seems fine, WiFi works well on all devices, and using cables for other computers functions properly. I’m a bit confused.

Checked if connecting to a different router port worked. Ran IPCONFIG in CMD to find the IP on the Ethernet port. Confirmed the adapter appears functional in Device Manager. Yes, there’s evidence of it working.

You're asking about the other end of the Ethernet cable. It connects to your router or switch, not directly to your PC. If it's a wall port, check that the connector is properly attached and there are no visible damages. Also, verify the Ethernet ports on both devices are working correctly.
