According to the details on their site, the 580 only handles 4K60hz over HDMI. I'm not sure if it can exceed that rate, but there are more knowledgeable people here who know better. The Reddit guide you mentioned applies to RX6000 series GPUs and newer models. Since your GPU is four generations behind, it likely won't work with HDMI. You might try an adapter from DisplayPort 1.4 to HDMI 2.1, though I've found those can be unreliable in practice.

I was expecting the higher color quality up to 12 with 1080p, but now it’s not working at all. It’s fine with 1080p for now, though it’s frustrating when I try to switch to 12—it just turns grayed out. No idea how to restore that setting.
