I've encountered a problem with COD AW where I can play normally but it freezes after a few sessions. It forces me to log out to close the program. Most settings are at their maximum, and the game runs smoothly until it locks up. I’ve recorded some gameplay to illustrate what happens. See the end for the lock-up moment. There’s a network error message appearing intermittently. So far my attempts: updated drivers from AMD, reinstalled the game, disabled overclocking, and tried safe mode with the lowest settings. Still unsure what else to try. My friends on PC have no issues, so it’s likely not hardware-related.

My system specs: AMD FX 8350 OC to 4.6GHz, Radeon 7990 OC’d as far as possible. Dominator Platinum 1866 RAM (16GB). Asus Crosshair Formula Z motherboard with the latest BIOS. Ignore gameplay details—this is frustrating.

I’ve played COD for a year; Ghost messed with it, and my mouse gets weirdly sensitive sometimes when I use alt-tab.

I've heard that audio files and background programs can lead to crashes in the game. For mouse problems, it seems the engine is involved. TotalBiscuit discussed this in a recent video. A quick search suggested trying to disable shadows, cache sun shadows maps, and cache spot shadow map to see if it resolves the issue.

Also, ensure no additional software like MSI Afterburner, EVGA Precision X, or similar tools with in-game overlays are active.

I damaged my PC last night and cleaned it thoroughly. Dust must have played a role. One of my fans on the H110 failed before, so I swapped two Corsair sp120s into a push-pull setup. Temperatures are now much better. Case temps rose slightly but not much until more fans are added. I reformatted and reinstalled Windows 8.1 and the game, and so far no lockups have occurred—though the GPU drivers did crash and needed an auto-repair, which forced a restart. I believe the problem is fixed.

It seems you're looking for advice on adjusting the shadow cache setting. While I haven't played it myself, I found a forum discussion that suggests disabling it can be beneficial for many users.
