Hey, six months ago you were getting assistance here but that thread stopped working, so I’m starting fresh! I have a Catalyst 4948-10GE with the X2 modules, a compatible transceiver, and a fiber cable. However, it’s not connecting properly—no networks appear on the computer, and the light next to the X2 isn’t lit. Do you need help checking the terminal settings or any other steps?

The ports are usually off by default. You'll need a console cable to set them up. If you manage to access the terminal, I can guide you through the initial configuration.

I understand how to start it, I handled the setup, but I’m having trouble finding my way around now.

Navigate to the global prompt and enable the display of IP interface brief. This will show a list of interfaces. Use the arrow key to scroll through or press space. From there, proceed with configuring the interface as needed.

You can try putting something you feel comfortable with, but remember it's okay if you're not confident. If you need help, just let me know!

Identify the port identifier from the output of “show ip int brief”. It will appear in a format like Te1/2/2, where the first digit denotes the switch index and the subsequent digits specify the module or slot. The third part gives the exact port number within that group.

You reached that point, then he instructed me to stop, save the R's I made, restart it, and it still didn’t respond (visible to me).
