I'm new to this topic. My Intel 9900k works well at 5Ghz with 1.215V. I saw online guides suggesting different voltages—some said 1.3V, others 1.25V—and tried adjusting myself. These resources didn't explain how voltage impacts overclocking. Should I try a higher frequency with a lower voltage, or should I keep the original setting? I assume lower voltage means less heat, so should I stick to 1.215V or experiment slightly higher?

Some CPUs require different voltages for the same speed, while others work well at lower levels. Running a stress test for 10-15 minutes with Prime 95/smal FFTs is sufficient to check stability with an air cooler; otherwise, it’s unnecessary unless you’re pushing RAM to its limits. The longest run I’d do is about 30 minutes to an hour, but only if using a water cooler, since it takes longer for the cooler to hit full temperature.
Using an NH-U12A aircooler gives consistent performance for about 10 minutes. The voltage reading is around 1.314V, but I adjusted it in BIOS to 1.215V. Temperatures stay mostly between 53-65°C, though they can spike above 70°C occasionally. It seems lowering the temperature might be possible.
For accurate voltage readings, employ HWinfo64 and locate the VR Vout value.
