The SSD should be positioned lower on the left side, secured with the screw instead of resting directly on top.

It doesn't sound like a great idea. The surface under there... could be the motherboard or the SSD.

Both drives aren’t performing well, so I recommend sharing the PIC with ASUS and checking if they used the right measurement tool.

I haven’t spotted anything clear. Let’s put it apart (create clearer diagrams) and put it back together. Working slowly should help you locate the issue. SSD works properly. Updated: September 12, 2025 by leclod

Consider these adjustments: Verify standoff height—factory settings may be slightly off. Use a suitable spacer to correct alignment. Ensure thermal pads are not over-stacked, which can warp the SSD. Opt for 1.0–1.5 mm pads for even pressure distribution. Insert a support shim like a nylon washer under the SSD end to maintain levelness. Functionally, a minor bend won’t destroy the drive, but prolonged stress on the PCB isn’t recommended. A flat position aids thermal management and longevity. For a permanent solution, choose low-profile M.2 heatsinks with built-in brackets that keep the drive straight no matter pad compression.
