Issue with Asus UEFI Bios and date/time configuration
I'm a Linux user, so I've turned off Secure Boot and set the BIOS to another OS. I'm having trouble setting my date and time—am I missing something or is there a misunderstanding? Are there instructions for setting this on the Asus AM1M-A motherboard? Any guidance would be appreciated, Michael.
Here are a few trivia points about the subject:
- When the CMOS battery is aging, the system might lose time while powered off.
- Setting NTP to refresh during each boot ensures updates happen regardless of previous timing errors.
- NTP may misinterpret time zones, potentially assigning an incorrect time for certain regions.
- Network problems can disrupt NTP, causing the system to revert to the CMOS value it has stored.
- If the battery is failing, the CMOS could retain inaccurate data.
