Hello, I own an ASUS ROG Strix laptop. The motherboard connector to the main monitor was damaged (service was recommended), and the display stopped working. A simple workaround was to use a second monitor—it functioned fine until then. I became frustrated with the Gforce experience because it wouldn’t install the latest updates; it kept failing. I found online advice suggesting uninstalling Nvidia drivers and reinstalling them. I did that, but the second monitor also stopped showing, and even after trying to adjust BIOS settings, it didn’t boot properly. I also tried removing the M.2 SSD, reinstalling Windows, and updating drivers, but nothing worked. Now I’m left with the option of keeping my files if necessary.

Laptop specs:
Intel Core i7-9750H
15.6" FHD 240Hz 3ms IPS display, anti-glare
32GB DDR4 2666MHz
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 GDDR6 6GB
Designed for esports excellence up to 240Hz on the Strix SCAR III and Hero III gaming laptops.

A few options...noticing the laptop won't boot with the BIOS display.
1. After startup, connect the external monitor once it's already powered on. (Follow step 5 if necessary)
2. Connect the external monitor after startup but with the monitor off, then turn it on. (Follow step 5 if necessary)
3. Turn on the external monitor first, then insert the HDMI cable into the booted laptop. (Follow step 5 if needed)
4. Start the laptop using the external monitor connected when the monitor is off, then switch and do the opposite. (Follow step 5 if needed)
5. Verify the external monitor has an HDMI input option in its on-screen menu. If available, choose another input and re-select HDMI.
