Issue with Asus Rampage IV formula bios
Someone might assist with updating your motherboard BIOS. You need a 2nd or 3rd Gen Intel LGA 2011 CPU to upgrade to the newer version, but first you must update the BIOS tools—which require a physical boot. Your current setup includes an I7 4960x, Asus ROG Rampage IV, 16 GB DDR3 memory at 1333MHz, and an Evga 750 G2 graphics card. It seems the problem is that your motherboard only supports .ROM BIOS files and can't switch to the latest .CAP file without a change. I wonder if converting a .CAP to .ROM using third-party software could work. Best of luck with the holiday season!
Throughout the evolution of BIOS, there appears to be a key moment when the built-in utility shifted from using ROM files to supporting CAP files. The earliest version capable of flashing its own image should have been a ROM that could be updated with the new format...
Convert USB to fat32 or NTFS, rename the BIOS file to R4F, power off the PC while keeping the PSU active. Insert the USB drive in the port labeled above the BIOS flash button (with the arrow). Hold the arrow button until it begins flashing, then wait about 5 minutes. Restart the PC.
The circular arrow functions as a distinct CMOS switch. I encountered problems because of file renaming and the need to launch BIOS tools to modify settings.
I attempted to transform it but it retains the .CAP extension. I did manage to retrieve some codes—sequence starts at 14-60-61-14, then loops until code 13 remains unchanged.
