Issue with Archer C5400x gaming router connection drops.
You bought the Archer C5400x router during Black Friday for a discount, but you're facing connectivity issues. Your setup includes a modem with built-in Wi-Fi, which previously had limited coverage in your room. After switching to the new router, you noticed occasional drops, especially when running certain games like Overwatch. You tried adjusting settings in the tether app and changing AP names, but nothing resolved the problem. Some issues appeared more often during specific programs, like Overwatch, and sometimes even when idle on a desktop. It seems the problem might be intermittent. To troubleshoot further, consider testing with different devices or checking if other networks behave similarly. If it persists, you may need to contact the router manufacturer for support.
It might be influenced by external elements such as microwaves or movement between your device and the router. You could test different frequency bands to see if it resolves the issue. 2.4Ghz tends to pass through walls and people more effectively, whereas 5Ghz is less affected by microwave interference. What is your connection quality on each band?
Thanks for your response. All settings seem strong, full bars. I’m unsure if any interference is affecting the router. Nearby, I have just an Arlo Pro Hub, and I’ve turned off the device that talks to the Solar Panels for data collection. There are two 5GHz connections—should I disable one? Then I’ll test using only the 2.4 band to see how it performs.
