Issue with AORUS Z790 Elite AX / GPU and 2 monitors?
Hello, thank you for being part of the forum!
PC Specifications:
Mobo: Z790 AORUS ELITE AX (rev. 1.x) BIOS: FHc
CPU: I5-12400f
GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1070 Windforce
RAM: G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB, DDR5, 32 GB, 6400MHz, CL32 (F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5RK) 2x16GB
PSU: be quiet! Pure Power 12 M 750W (BN343)
SSD: Samsung Evo 980 Pro 2TB
Main display: LG UltraGear 27GP850
Secondary display: DELL U2415
Issue:
Connecting one monitor (DP/HDMI) works without problems – system boots normally, AORUS window appears, allowing BIOS access and a win.
When connecting two monitors (one DP, one DVI), during startup there’s a 5-beep error. The board doesn’t show an AORUS window for BIOS entry, then a quick reset occurs and the system restarts immediately.
After purchasing a new second monitor with only DP/HDMI ports, the same 5-beep restart happens. Even though the secondary monitor is visible and GeForce Experience detects it, no image appears in Power Save mode.
I’ve tried different GPUs – 1080Ti (MSI GAMING X) and 1070 (Gigabyte Windforce). Perhaps a newer model would help? But in my previous PC it functioned perfectly. The BIOS is updated on the motherboard now.
Anyone else faced a similar issue? I can upload a video showing the behavior.
Best regards

Bios on mobo – latest update.
What BOS version do you have for your motherboard?
Please be quiet, 750 gold plus.
Be Quiet! is the brand name of the unit, while 750W is the claimed power output. Gold indicates the advertised 80+ efficiency rating. Could you share the model of your unit?
Do you have any information about your monitors? It might help to check if the cables are still working and see if the problem continues.
Also, feel free to share links to your GPU if relevant.
Created several different connection types. The issue begins when connecting more than one screen. Mobo is generating 5 beep errors.
Are you sure only the video card's display outputs are being considered? The 10 series cards are sufficiently new, so compatibility issues shouldn't arise. You're just double-checking the connections for your monitors to confirm each display cable works properly. The 5 beep code you mentioned is likely a monitor not detected code on Gigabyte boards.
Each cable functions independently since connecting a single monitor ensures everything works properly. However, when additional DP or HDMI cables are connected to the GPU, it emits five beeps and the system acknowledges both monitors, yet only displays the screen on the primary one.
Only once you enter an operating system will a single screen be active; this is typical. I'm uncertain about the beeping, as it doesn't seem standard.
I handled the process of getting both monitors functional. I discovered some tips on another forum suggesting connecting just one monitor to access the BIOS, and once inside, connecting the second monitor. After turning on the second monitor, it was detected as connected through DP and entered safe mode. I saved the BIOS settings and restarted the PC. Later, after installing Windows 10, the BIOS settings showed two monitors recognized, but in the options only "1" was available. I switched to expand mode and guessed what might have happened. It seems to work now—both screens display at maximum resolution and refresh rate, though it still triggers a 5-beep sequence during startup with both monitors active. I’m unsure if entering BIOS is necessary anymore. I might consider sending the motherboard for further verification.
