Hi everyone, I’m based in Australia and haven’t yet switched to nbn. We recently changed our internet provider and got a new modem. While setting it up and checking the network, I took a look at the wall splitter/filter. It has ports that seem odd—RJ45 connectors but only four contacts. Since ADSL uses RJ11 connectors, Telstra inserts plastic pieces to change them. So why would they do this if there are just four contacts?

Cat3 uses the same RJ45 connector but with just four pins, supporting up to 100 megabits per second.
