Issue with abrupt restarts and black screens observed.
Hello,
I’m seeking guidance on the issue you’re facing with your system.
Details include: Desktop computer, XFX AMD Radeon RX 7900 XTX graphics card with 24GB RAM, AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D CPU, MSI MAG X670E motherboard, BIOS version 1.E0, CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB DDR5 memory, and a CORSAIR RM850e power supply.
The problem involves frequent random restarts after certain actions, such as clicking "install updates" or using Chrome and Spotify. The system also becomes unresponsive when idle for extended periods and restarts unexpectedly during gameplay.
Applications running include Chrome, Spotify, and FS Dream Team Installer.
I’ve reinstalled Windows and left it running for over 12 hours without freezing, but it still bricked when idle or after playing games. The documents and download folders are missing, though I can access them via C:/ route.
Could anyone suggest possible causes or solutions? Your help would be greatly appreciated.
BIOS Version: 1.E0
You have a couple of other BIOS versions pending update. I'd flash to the latest, then clear the CMOS, then see if the issue is alleviated.
RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance 64GB DDR5 6400MHz CL32 Desktop Memory - Black
Got a link to the ram kit you're working with?
I have reinstalled Windows
Did you recreate your bootable USB installer, to install the OS in offline mode, then manually installing all drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator?
How are you cooling the processor? Do you have more than one drive hooked up to your build?
Hey!

BIOS:
I've updated the BIOS to the latest stable version 1.F0.

Drives:
I have one SSD and three NVMe M.2 drives. Windows is installed on one of the NVMe M.2 drives.
I'm starting to think there might be a problem with one of the drives or possibly the PSU, since the issue happens randomly and can't be recreated easily.
The memory upgrade kit is intended for Intel systems, but I was considering an AMD model with E.X.P.O. listed. I'm beginning to think the problem might be with a drive or the power supply, since the issue happens unpredictably and can't be recreated. It could also be related to your RAM. Did you respond to the questions about the operating system and whether all drives were connected during installation?
Where I bought the RAM, I verified its compatibility and checked multiple builder sites for problems.
My friend has the same build and parts, so we’re swapping PSUs to eliminate that chance.
The drives were connected during installation, but only one had a partition created at that time.
The drives were indeed connected during installation, but only one was partitioned at that time.
Make sure all drives are disconnected except the one you plan to install the OS on.
I have a friend with the same build and components, so we’re swapping PSUs to eliminate any chance of it being the same setup.
Good luck!
Could you suggest switching to RAM that is compatible with AMD?
When setting up my B650i Edge WiFi + Ryzen 5 7600 build, I started by searching for a dual channel RAM kit with AMD's E.X.P.O. My options were limited, but I found one that mentioned it on the package and matched the SKU except for the last two digits. I did this to ensure stability right out of the box. After that, I prefer working with fine-tuning adjustments rather than starting from scratch. Long story short, yes—I’d try it if you were in my shoes. Give the Beta BIOS a go, clear the CMOS, and check if enabling X.M.P. helps your situation.
