Two channels aren't the same as two sticks. Using four sticks means each channel will handle two sticks. Four sticks put more strain on the memory controller, and early Ryzen models were a bit sensitive with memory. Your memory package is confirmed for two sticks in the QVL for your model. The circle indicates where four sticks should be listed.
Hi, yes I did that even before getting my first 2 RAMs. The BIOS is the latest, around 4003, and I checked the QVL but didn’t see it. The issue involves the Ryzen 2000-series (Zen+) CPU's Integrated Memory Controller. Its Memory Clock, Infinity Fabric Clock, and Unified Memory Controller Clock are interdependent. The ratio of MCLK to FCLK to UCLK is consistently 1:1:1. It's uncommon for these models to support DDR4-3000 or higher speeds; DDR4-2666 is more typical, and DDR4-2666 to DDR4-2933 is the norm. Performance drops noticeably with the 1000-series Zen models, where DDR4-2400 to DDR4-2666 is less stable. Adding four memory modules increases stress on the IMC compared to two, making high-frequency DDR5 (DDR5-6000+) challenging even with recent Intel and AMD advancements. The 3000-series (Zen2) and 5000-series (Zen3) have improved, offering smoother operation with DDR4-3600.
