so I recently just upgrade from a 1650 super to the 2060 super when I first put the new gpu I had no issues what so ever.. now I made a mistake in not looking up what kind of psu would be good to match with the 2060 super and I have a EVGA 500w W1 100-W1-0500-KR 80+ 500W Power Supply. Now like I said I had no issue when I first put the 2060 in ran perfect but as the last month or so I notice in a few games I play (Apex, Rust) my game is freezing the graphics turn to play-doh and are super distorted and with rust my game just hitches an freezes an crashes constantly.. my friend has said it seems like a PSU problem to upgrade an throw the 1650 in till the new psu comes in but here is my issue with that.. I have played games like far cry 6 on ultra never had any issue with the game play what so ever ran smooth also ran the uncharted remastered for pc on ultra setting also an had 0 issue so i worried it might be a gpu issue an not a power supply issue I just want some second opinions before I spend money on a psu that not gonna fix anything... and I have read alot of people running there 2060 supers on 500w power supplys with no issues. ---- pc specs i5 9600k not OC 2060 super 16gb ddr5 corsair vengeance 2x 8 sticks 500gb ssd samsung evo idk exact one tbh 1tb old hardrive that i couldnt tell u what it is EVGA 500 W1 100-W1-0500-KR 80+ 500W Power Supply GIGABYTE B365M DS3H p.s dont roast the system suppose to be a budget build that im slowly upgrading lol also take any tips on upgrades u guys have also

Do you possess both GPU power connectors on one cable? (Referring to daisy chained power) If you have another PCIe cable with dual power connectors, select one plug per main cable for your GPU. Using a single plug from a daisy chained PCIe setup resolved the issue with my 2080ti. Changing the GPU power from a single cable with two 8-pin connectors worked when each had its own cable. It’s worth testing if you have the second PCIe power cable from your power supply.

It functioned well, though not as strongly. It performed much better and would keep me if you could assist and confirm if this PSU is suitable. You can check the EVGA 600 BR 100-BR-0600-K1 600 W ATX12V / EPS12V SLI CrossFire 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Non-Modular Active PFC PFC SLI Power Supply here: https://www.newegg.com/evga-600-br-100-b...02XJK56621

It seems you're seeking advice on optimizing your system. Consider lowering the GPU power threshold using tools like MSI Afterburner to around 80% or 70%. This could improve performance temporarily before upgrading your PSU.

I could even power a RTX 3060Ti using the Dell G5 5090's basic proprietary 12VO 460W PSU. The GPU draws up to 220W at full power, and the power cable only delivers 216W, though it still manages around 40W through the PCI-e slot. I recently swapped the original RTX 2060 for the updated RTX 3060Ti Edited February 21, 2023 by DreamCat04

For those curious, the updated PSU seems to have resolved the problem. Some users reported issues with 2060 Super off 400W power supplies, especially at higher wattages, while others with 500W units experienced better performance. Thanks for sharing your experiences—it really helped!
