Hello, I've noticed some startup delays on my PC. When launching via Win Hello, it takes about 20 seconds before responding. I've reinstalled Windows multiple times, reached out to Microsoft support, but they couldn't locate the problem. I investigated further and discovered that turning off the ASUS Com Service stops the lag, though I can still use LiveOS or similar tools. Since I have an all-Asu build, I need Armoury Crate to manage RGB and my cooler's display. The issue involves slow mouse movement, frozen taskbar, and halted animations—everything resumes after roughly 20 seconds. On a high-end system this shouldn't happen, but I'm unsure if BIOS settings need adjusting. Could someone assist me with more details? I really want this fixed so I can use my new machine properly.

You're likely dealing with performance problems caused by unnecessary software. The tools you mentioned—Win Hello, Logitech GHub, NZXT Cam, and Asus Armoury Crap—already function poorly on their own, making them even worse when combined.

I'm experiencing the same problem with my MSI MAG 670E. It seems related to identifying hard drives.

I've attempted to turn off or remove the G Hub, but the lag still occurs. I don't have the NXT Cam and Windows Hello comes with Windows is included. I need Armoury Crate since it manages the display on Ryujin, Anime Matrix, and LiveShad OLED. I use FanXpert to adjust fan speed. I have another PC with an R7 5700X, B550-F 64GB DDR4 @3600MHz, 1TB SSD, and a ROG RTX 3060—it doesn't experience lag, nor do my ROG Ally or G14 2023 or the ASUS TUF F15, which all run Armoury Crate on startup. Is there a BIOS setting I need to modify? I've read about "ASUS Com Service" communicating sensor data and similar issues; it seems the lag happens when something initializes, possibly due to the USB plugin sound after the lag stops. I've disconnected all USB devices except keyboard and mouse, but it's still unclear what's causing it.

I turned off all drives except boot, then swapped in a different drive too to see if the issue persists. I also moved the boot drive to the 4TB model for testing, but the problem remains unchanged.

BlackbirdPCTech faced unresolvable speed problems with his Godzilla configuration, probably due to poor hardware choices. Despite using an Asus board and kb (Azoth), he still got good results with SignalRGB and Fancontrol, while others struggled.

I ran some tests and installed Armoury Crate along with Aura Sync on my second PC and all my Asus devices. I already told you I tried disabling the ASUS COM Service, which helped but didn’t solve the problem. I’m still trying to figure out the main issue since it doesn’t affect my other PC. Maybe a driver conflict is causing the problem with the ASUS COM Service. If you can share log files, that would be useful. I can’t fully remove Armoury Crate, but the LiveShark OLED on the motherboard and the Anime Matrix rely on it. There’s open-source software for controlling the Anime Matrix, though it only works with the G14. I also learned that GSKill RAM needs this feature to manage its RGB lighting. Both my desktops have ASUS COM Service running at startup, but my PC doesn’t stutter during most games—only slight lag appears when starting up, and performance is stable at around 1%.

I had a computer that ran slowly—100% CPU usage for hours after a fresh restart. Even with no other programs running, it took weeks to get things stable. The lag only appeared once the Wi-Fi began downloading data. It turned out a faulty driver was the issue, so I had to upgrade to an older version. Maybe look for a specific trigger and check your drivers—sometimes newer isn’t better.

I attempted to revert and reinstall most system drivers, but lag continues. I reviewed the Event Viewer and found the issue: Metadata staging failed with result 0x80070490 for container '{215C3BC6-412A-11EF-BD4F-581122C2FFD0}'. Process 11740 tried to run without exclusive device control. The specific app is Windows Dynamic Lighting. Permission settings don’t allow Local Launch for the COM Server application with the given CLSID and APPID. This security setting can be adjusted via Component Services admin tool. I’m open to sharing Event Viewer files if needed for analysis.

there’s really limited what we can do... everything you tried is just the worst choice of ASUS setup, only beaten by NZXT, right? just remove all the Asus stuff, turn off Windows Hello... see if you can use something like OpenRGB... i’m not sure if it’s even possible, but that seems like your only option. also look up how to fully uninstall Asus software—it’s tricky and almost looks like a virus, so it can’t just be removed. or bring back the parts and build a system controlled by open source."
