Issue regarding video output on the new build?
Hello everyone, I recently assembled a new PC using the following components:
CPU: Ryzen 7 7700x
CPU Cooler: DeepCool LT720
Memory: MSI B650 tomahawk wifi
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 2x16GB 6000Mhz cl30
GPU: Asus Dual RTX 4070 super
SSD: Crucial P3 Plus 1TB
Power Supply: MSI A750GL
After finishing the build, I encountered issues while installing Windows. There were numerous BSODs related to MEMORY_MANAGEMENT errors. I believe the solution was to install only one RAM stick at a time. If I tried using both initially, the system functioned without problems, but I consistently experienced blue screens during boot (MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED).
After updating the BIOS, the problem disappeared, and the PC now runs smoothly with both RAM sticks installed. However, I still face occasional video output issues, starting from the very beginning. This morning, I had to restart the system multiple times to get a working video display. I attempted to uninstall the video and chipset drivers several times, re-seated the GPU, and even tried installing the 4070 in my previous build with Z370 and an 8700K. It worked there. Then I installed the original 4070 in my old build with GTX 1080 and a borrowed 3080Ti, and everything functioned correctly.
I also tried placing the 4070 in the other slot in the MB and it seemed to work without issues. Just to inform you, I have a 2-monitor configuration: an ASUS 32" 1440p 144Hz (connected via DPI) and an Acer 1080p 60Hz (HDMI). I even experimented with using only one monitor at a time, but the problem persisted. I’m unsure what else to try and hope you can offer some guidance. Thank you.
I finally figured it out. A Reddit user with the same issue as me mentioned they had updated their BIOS to the latest version, which caused the same problem. The fix was to install an older BIOS version, and after doing so, the issue disappeared. When I visited the MSI site to download an older BIOS, I noticed just a day before yesterday that a new update had been released, and installing it resolved the problem.
