Hey there, I recently purchased the Steam edition of Final Fantasy XIV, but it doesn’t update correctly and often crashes before the game even launches. I’ve also downloaded the non-Steam version and set up an account, but when trying to start it through the launcher, I get a black screen followed by a crash message. If you have any tips or steps that might help, please let me know!
The game seems to have problems in certain configurations, but everyone else is using the same client. The Steam update should fix it automatically once you open the launcher. I understand some players face crashes with DX11, so switching to DX9 via the "config" option might help. Also, the keyboard shortcuts don’t work across versions—Steam only supports it with Steam, not with other platforms or older copies. This mainly impacts your account if you bought the base game and a different expansion, as the key will be rejected in non-steam setups.
