Hey there! I recently assembled my own PC and ran into some tricky issues with the RAM slots. When I try to put the RAM in DIMMA2 and DIMMB2, the system won't start properly, even though the BIOS says it should boot. The CPU LED lights up, but I can't access the BIOS and see anything except a black screen. The RAM works fine on its own in DIMMA2, but when I try to install them in DMMA1 and DMMA2, it still doesn’t boot. I’ve got the sticks in both slots now, though sometimes Windows shows different speeds—some say 1799MHz, others 3600MHz. The manual says overclocking to 3600MHz from BIOS, but I’m confused why it doesn’t work. Are those DIMMA1 and DIMMB2 slots damaged? What are the risks of using DIMMA1 and DIMMA2 together? My setup is Windows 10 Pro with an AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, 6-core RAM, and a TOMAHAWK motherboard. I ran TM5 both ways—no errors when using both sticks in DIMMA slots, but it failed with one stick each. This guide about TestMem errors helped a bit, though it’s a bit confusing to follow.
Hello, AMD currently doesn't provide support for 4000 ohm dimensions from G.Skill. See the support list for details. DDR stands for Double Data Rate, meaning data is transferred twice per clock cycle. Setting a clock speed of 3200 MHz for DDR RAM is wrong because it's actually clocked at 1600 MHz and delivers 3200 MT/s. Some manufacturers do this simply because it sounds easier, while most people are familiar with MHz but not with MT/s.
It advises using PassMark Memtest86 to check RAM modules one by one.
