Issue: New setup isn't activating, no display lights.
Hi everyone,
I've just started assembling my new PC. When I connected the motherboard, CPU and RAM, I ran a quick test to check everything was fine. It took around 30 seconds for the yellow DRAM LED to illuminate, which is normal during setup, then it changed to red and quickly switched to white when no display was connected, so I turned it off. After reassembling the remaining cables, screwing everything into the case, and turning it on, the only thing that happens now is the CPU fan spinning. There are no DRAM lights at all, and I can't even power it down with the button—have to pull the plug out.
I've tried restoring it to its original state by unplugging header cables and the SATA drive, and also attempted to clear the CMOS using a screwdriver on the two pins, but the issue persists. The power cables seem properly connected, so I'm unsure what might be wrong. I've even loosened the cooler, but nothing has changed.
I have an Asus B650e-i with a 7900X and Ax120 cooler.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
I believe we require additional information regarding the build. Could you clarify the specifications of the memory kit? If it consists of multiple modules, have you tested each one separately in different slots? Are you planning to use a discrete graphics card? If so, have you attempted to run the machine using only the integrated GPU on the 7900X via the display header on the motherboard? Also, it would help to know what power supply unit you are employing for the setup.
Thanks
I have 2x32gb corsair vengence 6000/30 .. but if problem with the ram I'd expect the yellow qled light to turn on? I tried them both earlier and worked.
No gpu card at the moment.
Psu is the corsair sf 750
Hi, thank you for your message. I didn't realize your reply until today. The PSU seems suitable as it's platinum rated—definitely enough for the system without a GPU. The memory setup fits well within the recommended speed range for the Ryzen 7000 series. Have you tested using just one memory module? Any differences noticed? Another possibility I considered is flashing the BIOS via USB, as it appears to support this method with the PSU connected. An updated BIOS could help with stability and might be worth trying. Also, if possible, testing components separately on another board could provide further insights.
