Issue involving 7600X and Gigabyte B650M K, memory malfunction
I purchase a new component in March. The parts list includes a Gigabyte B650M K, KYO STYGIANZ DDR5 2x16GB 6000Mhz (believed to be OEM), an AMD 7600x, and a replacement cooler. I keep the previous PSU (Corsair RM650) and storage. However, once the system is complete, it frequently crashes with BSOD errors during attempted write operations to read-only memory. After testing my RAM and CPU with MemTest86 and OCCT, the results show memory failure and a failed CPU+Memory test. My initial thought is that the RAM might be faulty. I contacted the RAM manufacturer for a return and replacement. They confirmed no issue with my RAM and even provided a new one. Once the RAM arrived and I retested, the problem persisted. I consulted a friend whose setup uses an AMD 9900X, A620 mini ITX motherboard, and critical RAM. I swapped CPUs: on his system it worked, but after updating my BIOS, it still failed. After swapping to his CPU, it worked temporarily, but later the system crashed again. When I replaced my RAM with his, the issue disappeared for a while, then returned. Now I suspect the motherboard is the culprit. The delay in RMA processing seems unusual since they claimed everything was fine. Despite testing with my friend’s configuration—only a few hours away and located far away—I can’t conduct extensive testing. Could you help identify whether the issue lies with the CPU, motherboard, or another component? My confidence remains high on the motherboard, especially after observing stable performance in his setup following BIOS updates.
Due to certain circumstances, I can't rely on the motherboard testing experts from the authorized service center. I also don’t have insight into their testing environment. Testing with Windows memory diagnostic tools doesn’t always reveal issues with my own memory.
And if the computer is only used for light tasks, it shouldn't cause any issues. I haven't tried to run it for extended periods, though I do use this PC for my work. If you want to know the BIOS version, I didn't remember but I believe I installed the latest one in April.
Update quickly. After setting the clock to 3Ghz with Ryzen Master, the OC tests look normal—though the test only ran five minutes, which seems sufficient since the last run failed in under a minute. The issue arises when I try underclocking via BIOS; it fails. Switching from auto to a specific core multiplier also causes failure. Could someone clarify if this points to CPU problems under normal settings or if the motherboard can't deliver enough power to the CPU?
