I bought a new keyboard for my Dell laptop, but the ribbon latch won't close properly. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Dell laptop model? New keyboard details: source, vendor, seller information. Verify if the keyboard is genuinely new, reconditioned, or used. Examine the old keyboard's ribbon latch against the new one, checking for any interference. Ensure the latches and connectors match exactly. If they do, remove the new keyboard, gently manipulate the latch a few times to loosen it, then carefully plug and unplug the connector several times if needed. Alternatively, if the latch feels stiff, try loosening or gently rocking it into position. Proceed with caution and avoid forcing the connection. If everything aligns correctly, it should engage properly. Observe the process closely.
