Ensure the Steam library is emptied by moving it to a new folder, then place the files there. You won't be able to do this once it's in place.

What is this? It seems like a confusing reply. Every file can be relocated, but it might require some adjustments before it functions correctly.

The game folders can be placed in a specific folder, and then added to Steam.

You needed to follow a particular procedure to allow steam to identify the updated Skyrim files. I don’t recall it precisely, but it functioned well during my last move of game files to a different hard drive.
