Fast startup was turned off for a while on my system, and I’m considering turning it back on because my boot is becoming slower as I store more data. I realized the toggle doesn’t really function until recently when I reinstalled SoftPerfect’s Ram disk software, which suggested disabling Windows hybrid boot. I likely did that during the initial setup. After uninstalling the software and resetting the settings, it still isn’t working. I’ve tried editing the registry under Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Power and even manually shut down in hybrid mode from the terminal.

When using an SSD, performance issues usually come from filling up the drive rather than slow reads, so a fast start-up shouldn't be significantly affected. I'd check for any automatic processes running at startup or login to identify potential bottlenecks—I'm pretty sure fast startup wouldn't have a major impact in this case.

The situation is getting more complicated as I add more data. My boot time keeps rising, and I'm not sure what's causing the slowdown in reads or startup speed. The original setup was much faster—just a few seconds for a full start—but now it feels sluggish. Fast startup helped when it was new, but now it doesn't improve the overall performance. I'm looking for better explanations to understand why my boot times are increasing.

Fast startup is a type of hibernation that needs extra storage. It offers minimal improvement for booting on an SSD. Consider examining boot times: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/window...exercise-2
