Browser settings: Macbook Air (mid 2011), High Sierra 10.13.6 I recently assembled a new computer and am prepared to set up Windows. I own a Windows 11 license as a student. Unfortunately, I must install it on a bootable USB drive because the previous one stopped working. I only have an older Macbook Air (High Sierra) available for this task. Up to now, I’ve faced issues because Boot Camp Assistant supports only Windows 8 and possibly 10, and Unetbootin doesn’t properly add the install.wim file, causing installation failures. My only choice is to look for another Windows PC or laptop and create a bootable USB drive from there. It’s a last resort, so I’m hoping someone can suggest alternatives. Help is needed—I might need a Windows 10 license, but it seems unnecessary. Any advice on making a bootable USB with Windows 11 on an old Mac would be appreciated.

Consider using Windows 8 or 10 if you have no other choices, and create a Windows USB from there. Alternatively, apply the same steps with Linux. Note: You don’t require a Windows license to try it temporarily for such purposes.

Consider using a VM like VMware for Windows 10 or an alternative such as VirtualBox. You can connect the USB directly to the VM, which usually works smoothly. This method has been tried multiple times in my work with a Mac.

This appears to be the simplest choice. Appreciate it!

Das ist der erste Mal, dass ein neuer Nutzer etwas falsch macht. Ich werde das berücksichtigen.

I don’t have much background or expertise in switching between operating systems such as Linux. But I’ll take a look if it’s not too complex.
