I resolved the issue by moving the game to my SSD, but it still caps at 60 FPS. I've watched clips showing over 100 FPS, and I've adjusted the graphics settings. Are there any specific options I should change? The game occasionally drops below 60 FPS.

Disable V-Sync initially and inform me of your preferences. If issues persist, launch NVIDIA GForce Experience and choose to optimize the game.

Open the NVIDIA GFX experience and adjust the game settings. Avoid the suggested options; they often cause performance issues. Each card I've tested shows this problem. The game tends to drop below 60 frames per second consistently, even with a GTX 980. It usually runs at around 50 FPS, which feels smoother and more stable.

This often happens when the CPU reaches its full capacity. GTA V may require more processing power with certain configurations.

GTA V typically caps at around 60 frames per second, which suggests a moderate GPU demand. At high settings, this should be manageable on a capable CPU, especially with modern GPUs handling FX6 and FX8 efficiently. The CPU should handle the workload well, though it might struggle with hyperthreading. If you're using an i5, performance may drop noticeably, but running at 1440p without anti-aliasing could help boost your frame rate.

The adjustment worked smoothly from 60 to 90 frames per second.

GeForce experience often suggests poor settings for this title—don’t rely on them. Adjust your own preferences. The game maintains steady 60fps when using optimal configurations. The main performance hits come from MSAA, GRASS, and high graphics modes. On an i5/970, I achieve smooth 60fps with no drops, grass at high, and all other settings maximized. If you notice stuttering or lag, try using a mouse; raw or Windows input might be the issue.
