I need someone with technical knowledge to explain what's happening. My laptop is an Acer Aspire V3-571G from 2013. The hardware includes an Intel Pentium B960 at 2.20GHz, a 2C 2T Nvidia GeForce GT630M with 1GB of RAM, DDR3 memory at 1333MHz, and it runs Ghostspectre V13 Compact 22H2. After some time running, the idle temps are around 76°C for the CPU, 76°C for the GPU, and 47°C for the SSD. However, when launching a game, the temperatures spike to 73°C for the CPU and 69°C for the GPU—definitely not ideal. Once I power it on, I usually see solid performance (around 40fps in Subnautica), but after a few seconds it drops to just 15fps. Games like Minecraft Survival with OptiFine show similar behavior, lagging to 60fps initially then dropping to 20-30fps. The GPU seems to be using the latest driver (version 391.35), but the BIOS is outdated, so advanced features like XMP aren’t available. It’s running on a basic setup with only one fan cooler, and the battery is still connected. I’ve cleaned it recently, applied thermal paste, and the last time it was serviced was in 2022. The OS is custom, which means no bloatware, but I haven’t installed anything beyond standard updates. I’m hoping for a quick response since I’ve been playing games regularly and want to fix this issue permanently.

Possible cause could be thermal throttling.

CPU temperature is around 77°C during gaming, which seems acceptable. Going past 85°C would likely become problematic.

The CPU operates at a junction temperature of just 85°C. Thermal throttling typically begins before reaching the maximum safe temperature. 76°C seems to be the upper boundary set by the BIOS. A thorough cleaning might be required soon. Best of luck.
