Issue about Metro Exodus Sam's story
Hey everyone, anyone else facing tough conditions and thick fog near the end of the game? I’ve been dealing with a lot of dark weather and heavy mist since the raid at the fire station—normally it’s easy to spot enemies on top of buildings. Now it’s pitch black with a dense fog covering everything, making it nearly impossible to see them. The area around the sub is even worse; the mist blocks my view completely, and getting back to the rear to cross that small bridge is really tough because I can’t see any enemies or the bridge itself. I gave up trying to stay safe since I’m being hit by enemies I can’t see, but they’re clearly aiming at me. I tested this on both my NVIDIA GTX1080/Intel i7 and Vega64/AMD Ryzen setups, but the results were similar. Before this, I had no issues with Metro Exodus Sam’s Story on either system...
I haven't had a chance to try the DLCs yet, but their condition is completely unexpected. I played Exodus when it first came out last year and it worked just fine. I bought the Gold Edition on Steam to test it with more powerful hardware than I had at launch, and I was shocked by how badly broken it was—constant crashes and game-breaking issues made it nearly unplayable at times, including a bizarre incident where I was shot from nowhere. That’s exactly what you experienced too.
At first, everything worked smoothly; I could clearly spot my opponents across all levels and scenes, with vibrant visuals and no fog or mist at all—just subtle effects for mood. Now, the dark theme and thick fog completely obscure everything, making it nearly impossible to see enemies even close by. If an opponent were just a few feet away, they’d be hidden in the dense fog, making it hard to target them. So far, my rigs have remained stable, but this problem is ruining my excitement for the game. I haven’t started the main game yet; I’ve been enjoying Sam's Story, playing it several times and uncovering new caches of weapons and locations along the way.
I've noticed it, everything looks gray and the game elements are missing.
Earlier, this perspective let me see cargo ships and the dock, but now a dense mist covers everything outside. Most of Klim’s crew (on the left side) remain obscured by this fog, making it hard to target them. Previously, I could easily hit each one without trouble. At first, I assumed the problem was with my GTX1080 running on an Intel machine, but it happened on my RX Vega64 in a Ryzen setup too, so drivers aren’t likely the cause.
