The information suggests a misunderstanding about file sizes and compatibility. The video mentions a 4 GB USB for downloading, but Windows 8.1 64-bit typically requires around 20 GB of installed space. This discrepancy raises questions about whether the ISO refers to an upgrade or the complete installation for that version.

The Windows 8.1 ISO file increases in size with each update. Installing it typically results in a storage requirement of 20 to 30 GB on a fresh installation. Minimum 8 GB is recommended, but actual usage can be higher.

Really, you're asking for eight gigs at once?

I created an 8GB USB drive that can be used to install Windows 8.1 on a new PC for my dad.

There could be additional options, but you'll likely need an 8GB storage drive to accommodate the ISO file.

The system requires at least 4GB of memory. How can I help you with this?

It’s better to be cautious and purchase an 8GB USB drive for a few dollars. I can capture a screenshot of the 8.1 ISO on the drive I used to install the operating system on my dad’s PC this evening.

The Windows 8.1 ISO with update is unpacked and occupies about 3.83 GiB. If your USB supports at least 3.84 GiB, it’s perfect for using it as a boot disk.
