Yes, once you receive the Windows 10 ISO, you can switch to the actual version without being stuck on the ISO.

After installing the preview, you won't receive the free upgrade to the full version anymore. Otherwise, anyone could simply install the ISO and obtain free Windows without needing a genuine copy on their system.

You might consider buying a license for Windows 10, though it won’t be completely free.

There isn't an ISO version available. An .iso file is essentially a disk image, serving as a digital copy similar to a CD/DVD. The Windows 10 .iso files you might receive from Microsoft will match the software version sold in physical form. By chance, are you referring to the Technical Preview?

You should set up WIN7 or 8.8.1, apply all the updates, then register for the free update. Once Win10 becomes available, you’ll receive it at no cost, matching the version of Win7, 8, or 8.1 you initially installed.

I noticed the phrasing could be clearer. Microsoft typically provides .iso files for official release versions of Windows, and it seems likely they’ll offer similar downloads for Windows 10 soon.

Most users with an activated KMS will get the update. The upgrade supports Windows 7, 8, and 8.1 in any activation state. Windows 10 Preview isn't compatible.

That's precisely what I intended, isn't it?
