You're weighing the value of APUs versus upcoming CPU designs. The rise of HDMI and DisplayPort on every new motherboard suggests a shift toward integrated graphics solutions. Video editing tools are leveraging this trend, making APUs appealing for their versatility. Whether an APU fits a system with a dedicated GPU depends on your specific needs and budget.

Unless you require more than four monitors (assuming it's an nvidea Turing GPU) or over seven (if it's a Navi GPU), it's not really an issue. Perhaps just for troubleshooting, that's all.

It seems so, given the leaked benchmarks suggest the 4700G will surpass the Ryzen 7 3700 at a significantly reduced cost. Is an iGPU beneficial? Definitely, since you’ll have a backup if the dedicated GPU fails. If you wish to upgrade your setup while retaining the GPU, you could resell it as a full system without purchasing a new GPU. I recently moved from a Core i3 4160 to a Core i3 9100F but kept the dedicated GPU. All I needed was a very inexpensive power supply and an old case, and I could donate it to charity without searching for a GPU.

Desktop APUs typically store less cache compared to desktop chips, which can influence certain performance outcomes.
