Is your Task Manager experiencing issues?
I launched Task Manager and it’s displaying your CPU at 100% due to an open browser. It mentions high power consumption from apps such as Discord. On my system, an i7-3820, I’m concerned this is happening frequently and I want to understand what’s causing it.
You could simply disregard it, unsure how a typical Task Manager determines this.
while navigating a website, you notice its performance drops significantly to around 80 or 90%.
Lol, when did TaskManager start showing power usage stats? Probably not long ago—maybe it’s been updated recently. Just don’t take it too seriously unless you’re curious!
It's actually correct. Certain programs existed in Chrome that kept the CPU active to maintain performance, which hindered proper sleep and drained your laptop battery quickly. This explains why Chrome left your device idle despite not using much CPU power. Another factor could be Discord interfering with the SSD or HDD’s ability to sleep. The Task Manager tracks a program's impact on system power usage, and Microsoft introduced this tool in Task Manager (previously in Visual Studio) to help developers identify inefficient software rather than pointing blame at the user or OS. Personally, I recommend using Discord instead of their outdated interface, or switching to a more reliable messaging platform. Also, Windows offers a screenshot feature—worth exploring.
