Greetings. I've been using a custom-built PC for approximately one year, and I’m experiencing an issue with game performance. Primarily, I achieve around 144 frames per second (fps) with my Fortnite sessions, typically without using vertical synchronization or capping fps. However, during intense combat situations – particularly in urban environments – my frame rate consistently plummets.

I’ve already investigated potential causes by verifying that my component temperatures are within acceptable limits. My troubleshooting steps have included updating all device drivers, reinstalling Windows, refreshing the BIOS firmware, adjusting Windows settings, and experimenting with various configurations.

Here are my system specifications:

Processor: Intel Core i7-8700k
Graphics Card: AMD Radeon 64 Vegas
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Pro 3
Power Supply Unit: Corsair RM 850i
Memory: 2x8GB DDR4 HyperX Fury
Motherboard: ASUS Prime Z370

I am hoping that members of this community can offer assistance in resolving this problem.

Fortnite can be frustrating at times. Certain locations, such as Tilted Towers, limit your framerate to a specific level, no matter how powerful your equipment is. If it’s not choppy, this is typically expected behavior.

Occasionally, it seems my display isn’t matching up properly, resulting in a jerky effect. I possess a 144Hz monitor with FreeSync capabilities. When I enable Vsync, the gameplay becomes exceptionally fluid, but it introduces a noticeable delay in responsiveness. (however, frame rate dips still occur during intense moments).
