Is your motherboard not working?
So my cousin purchased a computer for his child's Christmas, working within a $700 budget and wanting streaming capabilities. In short, he got an R5 3600 with an MSI MPG X570 Gaming Plus motherboard. People on forums seem to dislike this board, but it came in an Amazon bundle that was the only option available in December. Recently, it appears the motherboard is failing—after replacing the power supply, it still didn’t work. When plugged in, the board just flashes its LED lights for half a second and then stops. I attempted to clear CMOS, boot without RAM or GPU, but nothing changed. Is this more likely a motherboard issue or a CPU problem? The system functioned normally during initial setup and stress tests, with normal temperatures. It was in use for about two weeks before shutting down. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
According to my understanding, there are no LED debug lights. If they existed, none would illuminate; most illumination comes from the front of the case and a couple of RGB LEDs on the motherboard. These only briefly flash before turning completely off.
I also experimented with various settings, but changing the amount of RAM didn’t seem to help.
They mention a small section about it being important, but the details are limited. The motherboard might still be under warranty depending on its age.
I don’t see the board up close, yet the debug LEDs haven’t activated. I bought it on December 1st, so I assume it should appear in the RMA section? I’ll let my cousins’ kid handle the MSI follow-up.
