Is your I7 9700k running at 5.1ghz stable?
Is your I7 9700k running at 5.1ghz stable?
I wanted to quickly adjust the CPU speed on my system.
I7-9700k
strix-z390-e
2x 8GB Corsair vengeance RAM
2080 RTX
650 WATT Power Supply
I tried enabling AI Overclocking in BIOS, which set the CPU to 5.1 GHZ. Everything worked normally during boot and stress testing. I played games and everything was fine. After shutting down, I restarted and found it frozen in a loop. I reverted AI Overclocking in BIOS, and it booted correctly.
I removed and reinstalled all BIOS drivers, but I still can’t reach 5.1 GHZ. Anyone else experienced this problem? Do you know a solution? I don’t need that high speed, but improving it would be great. My hardware monitoring tool shows normal temperatures—no overheating detected.
Thanks in advance!
There are a few suggestions I’d like to share:
Configure a manual 5.1ghz OC in the BIOS together with an appropriate adaptive voltage.
You should perform a stress test for at least 4 hours, which is the bare minimum. 8 hours is suggested. This is because some errors only appear after prolonged periods and can’t be triggered immediately. Additionally, I think 4 hours is sufficient so that most stress testing algorithms can complete all their tasks. Like with Prime95, it takes time to go through all calculations to verify CPU stability across various operations.
I used a method to simulate stress conditions for two hours at 5.1GHz. It seems 5.1GHz isn't consistent. Have you performed a standard baseline test with default configurations and XMP activated?

3. Use Ai Suite solely for obtaining your maximum overclock. It performs excellently in assessing how high you can push your CPU, but once you exceed that point, you should manually adjust settings in the UEFI BIOS.
