Hey everyone, I’m facing a bit of an issue with this older machine (a Dell XPS 8500 moved into a SAMA IM01 case with an EVGA GTX 960, which I received for free). It’s been running smoothly for two years now. The main use is as a media PC with occasional 1080p gaming—like Need For Speed and Ace Combat 7—and it’s connected to a 75" Samsung QN90C. The setup involves a DP connection followed by a DP-HDMI converter, which is necessary to achieve 4K at 60Hz with that card.

About the connection on the PC side: it uses a DP and then a DP-HDMI adapter. This is the only method that allows the card to run at 4K resolution. In recent months, I’ve noticed some problems (mostly intermittent):

1. Once during Ace Combat, the game froze into random yellow blocks for about a minute before restarting to Windows.
2. On two occasions, the PC would power on and display very distorted images—extremely grainy, stretched horizontally, no readable text, all looking like dust. I suspect the TV might be trying to fix a low-resolution signal. After pulling out the video cable and reconnecting, everything worked fine.
3. Once the PC restarted without any video output, it behaved the same as in case 2. Unfortunately, I can’t test different HDMI inputs on the TV because it needs to be removed from its mount. I’m using Windows 10 Pro and can’t see anything unusual in Event Viewer.

Fast Startup was disabled yesterday and hasn’t caused any issues so far, but the problems are still happening. Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated!

You've been using it for two years now, so it's likely the GPU stopped working. Do you have a CPU that includes built-in graphics? You might want to power off the TV and test with another GPU port—it could be a faulty port.
