I'm considering purchasing an RTX 3060 Ti and wondering if my Coolermaster 550w bronze will suffice for the build. I plan to pair it with an i5-12400f. Right now I have a Xeon x3470 with 95 TDP and a GTX 770, which Nvidia says has 200 TDP, matching that of an RTX 3060 Ti. I'm not experiencing any problems so far, but I'm curious if this PSU is sufficient for the RTX 3060 Ti. Would it be better to invest in other components instead?
Coolermaster offers several models with a 550W sticker on its side. Which one are you considering? What is the age of the unit? If you plan to buy it, consider a 650W model for better headroom. I’m not experiencing any problems at the moment, but I’m wondering if this PSU will be sufficient for an RTX 3060 Ti. I might save that money for other components. Many people cut corners on the PSU and later face issues where it failed to power their parts properly. The PSU is often seen as the core of the system—don’t compromise on it.

3000 series cards often experience significant power spikes that a psu might not manage.
This could lead to unexpected shutdowns and constant troubleshooting.
Opt for a reliable 650/750/850w unit.
Your processor can eventually handle a much more powerful graphics card.
A Corsair Rmx or Seasonic Focus 650w model costs around $120.
Upgrading by $10 brings you to 750w, and another $30 gets you 850W.
