Hi!
My ASUS N56VV Laptop that I bought 10 to 12 years ago wasn't used for a while, and before that it was used very rarely—about once a year. Then I decided to turn it on again, and I encountered the same issue:
1st impression with the power button: CD-ROM test starts and stops (normal startup), keyboard lights ON then OFF (normal startup), power light is ON, charging light is ON, monitor is OFF
About 10 times I tried the power button: power light turns ON and after two seconds it turns OFF, everything else is off (then the first press repeats)
It's clear that both the ACCU battery and CMOS battery are completely dead, and I changed the CMOS battery (CR2032) without waiting long. After replacing it, nothing changed.
What I attempted:
Held the power button for a minute (with unplugged cord & battery), then tried to start using only the ACCU battery and PSU (just with PSU), but no results.
Tried holding Ctrl+Home (without pressing the power button) – no effect.
Tested RAM (only one 4Gb module): I released it, cleaned it with a brush and rubber, then tried to install it in each slot and turn on the laptop – no changes.
Checked PSU with a multimeter (besides the fact that the ACCU battery is likely dead, and I didn't use it) – PSU is working. Still no changes:

What else can I try?

The bios battery is placed properly?
Is there eventually a CD in the ROM drive? Remove it.
Replace the main battery.

CR2032 placed properly
The CD-ROM has no content
No main battery required at all; other laptops function without it using an adapter.

unfortunately, not every case works, particularly if the battery is bad. Have you unplugged it and tested it with the ac adapter? which one is it? is it the genuine model? if not, does it supply the required wattage and voltage for your laptop? 19v and at least 90watt?

Earlier it functioned without a battery, using just one adapter, similar to several other ASUS models I used. I always prefer genuine adapters. The N56V adapter operates at 19V and draws 6.32A.

remove the battery only when necessary
if only one RAM is present
disconnect the hard drive and CD-ROM
attempt to boot to access BIOS

battery is inplugged & there is only one 4Gb RAM module (i wrote before)
I'll try to unplug CD-ROM & HDD.

Still no changes: the power button light and LED remain on (as before), the keyboard lighting doesn’t blink (unchanged), and now to turn it off I have to hold the power button for 10 seconds (same as before).
