I recently purchased the MSI gaming x 1080ti and I really like this card. However, I've been experiencing poor performance when trying to overlock. Others have achieved stable OC's at +100 mhz core clock and reaching around 2025~ mhz stable. My setup isn't doing the same. Is this a problem? Should I just replace it or accept that it might be due to the silicone quality?

As you mentioned, the OC process is like a lottery. Sometimes you get lucky, other times not so much—it depends on you. In my country, exchanging it is necessary because overclocking isn't permitted. But if you're not happy and it's allowed to return it, then go for it.

Also, the GTX 1080Ti without OC is a really solid card.
