I've been working with WSL 1 and 2 for over two years without any reliability problems. Microsoft is continuously enhancing WSL, and you can view their release updates here: Release Notes for Windows Subsystem for Linux | Microsoft Docs The build numbers indicate Insider releases of Windows, with bug fixes addressing issues found in those development versions of Windows 10, not necessarily the final official release.
