Is Windows Vista that bad?
Right now, the situation isn't terrible. It performed poorly when it first came out.
It looks extremely polished. It resembles Windows 7 with a Windows XP task bar.
I changed from Vista to a fresh operating system because my media PC had just an 80 GB HDD and Vista required an extra 50 GB, HDMI support wasn’t understood by the OS, the desktop didn’t let me reposition the mouse, I spent about ten hours on updates after installation (yes, it was tough), and I still love Vista. Now I’m using the best free Linux option for me—Ubuntu GNOME 14.10, which runs smoothly using only 10 GB and works great .
If your system meets the requirements, it works fine. Otherwise, it’s quite poor quality, especially since this version of Windows Vista is almost unsupported right now.
It's not the worst operating system ever, though it had plenty of problems. The improvements were poor and Windows 7 was what Microsoft aimed for with Vista—it even performed better on older machines. This creates a frustrating loop; Microsoft has a solid Windows but becomes complacent, believing they can change direction anytime. Customers dislike the product, so they rush to the next version. Windows 8 had better optimization, but it's still far from what most users wanted. Large companies had to plan training sessions for their teams, which was a major reason for its limited success. Windows 10 could be great if they break free from this pattern.
