: Is Windows Notepad solely cloud-based now?
It remains a local issue, yet all AWP store apps feature a loading screen and telemetry. The operating system handles this by managing the app window frame, which occurs almost instantly. However, the heavy software still takes time to load, resulting in a clear delay afterward, even with an SSD. This is why many users opted for a shortcut to the traditional win32 calculator rather than using the newer Windows 10 calculator app.
But it stores my notes to the cloud, yes?
Something is different since this last Win 11 update. The note opens immediately, but there's a pause before the text is displayed. Like it is being downloaded.
I don't rely on One Drive. It was removed completely. The document I was using was located on my computer's desktop. Some others have it on my PC or in my personal cloud storage.
My prediction is that you can click the gear icon at the top or right and adjust some options to resolve the issue. Reference: https://forums.

The challenge lies in the fact that the classic win32 notepad remains available in Windows 11, but Microsoft has made significant changes to redirect any attempts to run it to the modern notepad store application. There are workarounds that let you open old notepad.exe, though unlike the calculator, text files will appear everywhere and double-clicking them can still launch the app. This is because Microsoft continues to adjust file associations for text files back to the original program.
Apps represent the future, offering a chance to integrate contextual ads into the upcoming AI-driven Windows 12 experience—such as seeing offers like "Looks like you’re filing taxes; here’s a discount for TurboTax or MS Word!" after the AI closely monitors your actions. Windows 11 23H2 (available for preview now but not yet in general release) has already introduced Bing Chat AI Copilot for searches and OpenAI’s cocreator for image generation within Paint 3D.
Thank you. That worked well. I retrieved my old Notepad again. A straightforward app for basic users. Also discovered:

In short, the same approach applies, and you'll find the best solution if it exists here.
