I have my laptop here (metabox wa50sj) and picked it without an OS since it’s much cheaper and I want to handle it myself. My concern is whether Windows Embedded 8.1 Industry Pro with Update can run as a daily driver. I get it for free through my school. My planned use includes MS Office, Autodesk Inventor, video/photo editing, and some gaming. Thanks!

It seems like you're describing a system with basic functionality—just regular browsers, explorer, and maybe some other essential tools—without the extra features of Windows 8.1.

You need that. My laptop has a bloated HP install, and it would have been great if I didn’t have to remove everything.
