8 It doesn't include the "Phone Home" option found in Windows 10, yet it misses many capabilities from Windows 10. I prefer what Windows 10 offers.

Win 8.1 is fine, but it’s fading as its share is shrinking and adoption hasn’t been strong. Plus, what you’re seeing is more like a blend of versions from 7 and 8.1.

I prefer Windows 8 because it's the operating system I needed for my daily drivers.

Windows 8.1, with the windows 7 skin on top, plus a few other tweaks to make it look more like 7, works great.

In reality, users remained confined to the Start Screen for extended periods, overlooking how many Windows 10 features were actually designed for Windows 8.

Windows 8.x worked adequately for many users, especially on convertible devices like laptops or tablets. However, the Store and native OS applications felt underwhelming, largely due to issues with the Metro framework and a poorly designed store infrastructure. Although security updates will cease in 2023, the limited market presence means third-party programs and drivers often receive inadequate support. If you plan to upgrade, it’s best to begin with the most recent version.

I'll proceed with that plan once I have a new SSD. It will arrive without any operating system, so I'll receive a Windows 10 installation USB.
