Why not operate it without activation? It complies with the rules, there’s just a visible watermark and you won’t be able to alter your background.

You can use windows without a license - there's a watermark and you can't set the wallpaper, but it's functional.

You have the option, it will only show a watermark and you can't alter the UI colors. If you require a key, purchase one for $7 on eBay or similar sites; these are typically keys from enterprise accounts and are meant to be genuine, though they are often resold.

there's a difference between 'legal' and 'breaking EULA'. you're doing nothing illegal with those shady $7 g2a / kinguin / ... keys, they just most defenately dont follow microsoft EULA... but most they can do to you for that is deactivate it, which i dont think they are bothered with at all, seeing how many of these keys make the rounds... a sneaky sidenote you can also do, is buy a windows vista to windows 7 upgrade key, they'll activate win10 too, as well as a win7 key, a win8/8.1 key, and the in betweensy upgrade keys.
