I discovered affordable Windows 8 keys on Reddit and am considering purchasing one. What benefits does Windows 8 offer for gaming, and what drawbacks should I be aware of? Since I mostly play BF4 right now, it might matter a bit. Thanks!

Enhanced compatibility with DirectX, improved upgrade route toward Windows 10, similar reliability, stronger driver assistance.

This indicates improved gameplay efficiency. Potential drawbacks may exist depending on the specific situation.

I don't have Windows 7 installed at the moment. If you do, please wait for Windows 10 to be available.

Yes, it was expensive. Waiting ten days makes it free.

In addition to the Metro menu at startup and the absence of a start menu (both fixable with third-party tools, and the latter available via a built-in setting), everything is acceptable. Game performance might improve slightly, though likely only minor differences. Some users prefer retaining their files during an upgrade rather than performing a clean install. I’ve already mentioned that Windows 8.1 is much closer to Windows 10 in terms of design and will offer a smoother upgrade path between versions 7 and 10.

Stay patient for 10 days. It's free if you download it within a year of its release. :3

You recently switched to Windows 8 and found it beneficial—quicker startup, modern look. The changes are noticeable, though performance improvements aren’t significant.
