I'm trying to assemble a new computer for my home setup. My previous system had the MB die... I sold the CPU, RAM and NVMe to cover my rent.
I have an old motherboard and CPU that I plan to fit into the case with the open loop because the CPU block will fit. It's an EK kit with a Gigabyte Waterforce 3080. The "new" motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD7-TH with an Intel 4790 cpu.
Is the 3080 the limiting factor? LOL I was using the Z97X-4790 as a Hackintosh....
I thought I'd give you all a laugh before 2026....

Consider using an AM4 platform or a 12th Gen Intel processor to get the best performance from your RTX 3080.

I'm aiming for a 12700K with a DDR4 board, but right now I'll stick with the i7-4790. LOL, I've got a 1660 Ti to install on the z97/i7-4790... This combination seems solid, 1660Ti and i7-4790, what do you think?
