Is this PSU suitable for my new build?
The product isn't platinum rated, and I asked my cousin to test it first to ensure compatibility. I'm worried about potential damage to the PC components I purchased from them.
I have an Intel Core i5 13600K 3.5GHZ, fourteen-core LGA 1700, MSI B660 MAG Tomahawk Wi-Fi D4 ATX, MSI Gaming GeForce RTX 2060 6GB GDRR6, Deepcool AK620, G.Skill Ripjaw V Series 32GB.
I'm considering adding it to a Samsung 990 Pro with a heatsink as well.
Is the Gold-rated Prime PSU from Seasonic adequate, or should I be more careful and choose something better?
But when I checked the PSU tier it wasn’t listed anywhere except for the 1000w model, which made me worry. I haven’t seen any reviews of this high-end one. Is it still okay?
Linus forums also note this issue with the prime models.
Seasonic PRIME-based units often face shutdowns when using RTX3080/3090 (and possibly RX6900 XT) GPUs, particularly those with unlocked power limits like FE and ASUS Strix. It’s advised to overprovision wattage—1kW for RTX3080 and 1.2kW for RTX3090—or limit the GPU power, or try a 'dirty' fix by disconnecting a 12V V-sense wire pin from the PSU-side connector of the 24-pin motherboard cable (as suggested by Jonny Guru). Units updated after 2018 on the Seasonic Focus platform and most OEM models are unaffected.
I have no clear guidance on what to do if I decide to upgrade to a better GPU later.
I've consistently used gold-rated PSUs from EVGA without any problems. My main concern has been the wattage, so I adjusted accordingly—my old setup was around 780W, so I went with a 1000W model. The new build is 7950x3D/4090 and about 900W, which means I'm using a 1300W unit.
No, this PSU is already from Newegg, so I asked my cousin to test it and check if it functions properly.
My main concern is that if I later decide to upgrade to a 3060 or a 40, I'll need to replace both the PSU and the UPS because the latter can only handle up to 865W, and there isn't a suitable one for 1000W at home. This unit is the only one I currently have.

That's why I'm a bit concerned about the GPU upgrade. I believe the 2060 will suffice for my current needs, though I still have doubts.
Apologies if this goes off topic. If the PSU works well, that's all that matters to me. Thank you!
The PSU performs well. A few high-quality PSUs were caught off guard by the 3080/3090's power spikes. PSUs are built for the situations they're expected to handle. Upgrading to a 3060 or 3070 should not cause issues, and a 3080 would likely be fine too. This isn't about risking total destruction of your PC, since these units have solid safety mechanisms. Don't hesitate to ask—overreacting is worse than underpreparing, and many people are making the same mistake now.
